My Name is Khan, Alice, SINGAPORE

Apologies for the lack of blogging (uh oh.. naughty me) but I'm back now.. ;)

I've had a wild past few months which consisted of: University exams, assignments, SINGAPORE! and fun gatherings!

Before I go on blogging about Singapore, the most amazing place in the world, I promised some review
s on My Name is Khan and Alice in Wonderland.

My Name is Khan is a bollywood film but I would recommend it to anyone! It was like no other film in bollywood Shahrukh Khan's acting was superb, which made the film, I think. His ability to act in any situation is incredible. The cha
racter he plays, Rizwan Khan, has autism. SRK definitely manages to fulfil the role with such excellence and never disappoints!
What would a bollywood film be without romance? I know I had said it was like no other film but would it be a bollywood film if there wasn't romance? The famous couple Shahrukh and Kajol are reunited in this film and the story of their love pulls across the whole film.
The music was something I noticed straight away, there were such beautiful songs, they are so uplifting and fit the film so perfectly.

Alice in Wonderland bored me, I'm afraid. I always say "don't have high expectations because they're likely to be crushed.. If your expectations are low you'll only gain and not lose", honestly, I had no expectations and I still felt disappointed. I did however LOVE Johnny Depp, he never fails to amaze me but that might just be because I'm a fan. Other than that.. thumbs down from me.

S I N G A P O R E.
H e l l o ? !
Right so let me start by saying I wish I was still there.. I'd move there.. I mi
ss it.. I fell in love with the place.. INSTANTLY.
People have "good times" and then there is "oh my gosh good times" and then up a few levels where you think you're in paradise and all of a sudden it's.. Singapore

Let me paint a little picture for you all..
beautiful people, beautiful buil
dings, beautiful scenery, beautiful houses and apartments, beautiful pools, beautiful skies.... I think you get the idea

Singapore is an amazing country with so much to see and do!
It's so clean and strict that you'd never feel unsafe.

I think it's probably easier if I posted a photo..

This is
the business district (can I hear a WOW?!).. Everywhere you look in Singapore you see men and women dressed up in office wear!
The shorter building with the
red and white brick in the middle of the photo is a hotel.. The hotels are so luxurious! This particular hotel is the Fullerton.

Opposite the business district
across the water is the new hotel, Marina Bay, which was opening whilst I was there! (See

My favourite time in Singapore was Chinatown shopping, in the little time I had (5 weeks didn't seem enough) I visited Chinatown four times! I loved the oriental feel and the items that you can purchase! I had my palms read and I had my name written in mandarin on a fan.
I loved everything about Chinatown. Singapore is generally quite an expensive country but if you go for the local things like food and souvenirs, it's really good value for your
money!

I could go on and on about Singapore and how amazing it truly is but no one will ever understand unless they visit themselves.
A few tips:
* Do not forget your camera!
* Try at least two spas!
* Get pampered!
* Dont forget the sunblock (temperature of up to 40 degree celcius.. you're going to need it along with a fan and a hat!)
* Be prepared for humid hot weather and the occ
asional tropical thunderstorm.. bliss!
* Visit Clarke Quay for the ultimate night life
* Try a Singapore Sling (drink available at most bars..)
* Visit Raffles hotel, that is if your not lucky enough to be staying there!
* Take a trip to Chinatown be prepared to be in awe!
* Visit a Mandhir and a Buddha temple.. absolutely beautiful, such intricate work has been done to each building it's fantastic
* Try the local food
* Splash out at a restaurant!
* Check out the music (mtv asia!!)
* See as many malls as you can, each is different but each have a range of different shops and spas!
* Check out the City Link Malls!
* Get your hair cut in Singapore (I got a ten dollar hair cut and loved it!!)
* See a skin specialist - they're known to be amazing, only if you need to! - Costly!
* Drink plenty of water.. Singapore is way too hot and much too fabulous to be getting dehydrated.. I'd like to say they must be famous for the isotonic drink 100 plus!
* Orchid street is the place to be for the top designers stores!
* Get something tailor made.. a chinese Kimono maybe?
* Visit Little India
* Go to the beach, hire a bike? jog? run? you won't be alone that's for sure
* and finally, have fun and spend as long as you possibly can there!!

The Bounty Hunter

The Bounty Hunter is such a funny film.
Jennifer Aniston played the journalist investigating a murder cover-up and Gerard Butler played the Bounty Hunter only to find his next job was to hunt down his ex wife!

It's like a fight against the two, almost a competition of who outsmarts who!

The story throughout is about them running away.. from each other or other people. They're both in big trouble..

The film definitely keeps you giggling but I must say, it is a bit predictable.. they fall back in love.. in the end.. and end up in jail together (not so predictable).

Gerard was looking very hot but not as hot as Jennifer!
I had no idea about the plot of the film, I watched it purely for the actors. I've got to say, I was impressed.

March!

It's nearly the end of March and I haven't blogged! Sorry!

February's mission of staying away from chocolate.. WORKED!
I had a few incidents where I bought a hot chocolate and realised.. I CANNOT DRINK THIS!
So I gave it to my friend :)

This month I've gave up KFC (ouch) and energy drinks!

I've been super busy.. but I have promised to review Up in the Air and Dulha Mil Gaya

I have more films to add to the list too!
- My Name is Khan
- Alice in Wonderland
- The Bounty Hunter
..maybe more!
I'll be back soon! Promises :)

February starts.. chocolate ends..

Last month I gave up "Coca Cola" and "Pepsi" as a "self control test". I knew that would be easy! I did it a few years ago.

Well it was to set me up for this month's test.

NO CHOCOLATE

I'm thinking to myself, I must be crazy.. Chocoholic, I am. It's a huge challenge for me and I'll keep the blog updated with how it's going. I don't think I've had a day go by without chocolate. I indulged in a nice hot chocolate before midnight last night - I guess that's the last hot chocolate for a long time now...

Day one - it's already painful..

Posts to come: Review on "Up in the Air" and "Dulha Mil Gaya"

RECESSION, NO RECESSION

So we're "officially out of the recession".. What is going on!!!?

One moment we're in a recession, the next we're out.. and we're back in again.. oh look.. 0.1% OUT.
(By "we're" I mean Britain)

OFFICIALLY FED UP!

I'd rather know we're out of a recession when we're actually safely out. Not by 0.1%

I also just read that we're at risk of plunging back in.. well with such a poor percentage out, I'm not surprised!

(Just a quick short post today!...sorry)

Toys in cereal boxes..

Where have they gone?!
You know, the little toys that would be sealed in another little plastic package inside cereal boxes..

I popped out this evening to get some Coco Pops and came back put some in a bowl then realised... "Oh my gosh.. where are the free toys?!"

Then a friend informed me they've been removed due to "health hazards"

I remember the days I used to want a cereal because of the toy.. I don't think I used to even eat the cereal after a few days.. ha.

I guess my point is that children have nothing to look forward to! - Except the chocolatey fun in Coco Pops! Haha.

On that thought.. I'm not sure if drink companies do it anymore, but remember when you would collect bottle caps or the pull-ring tab's on cans, to get prizes or tickets of some sort...

Oh how times have changed.

It's Complicated

It's Complicated has definitely set the level for 2010's romcoms!
Hilarious, cringe-worthy and in a way - inspirational!

Ex-wife, Jane, played by Meryl Streep was a hilarious character who you can't help but wonder how it must feel to be in her shoes. Her dilemma of "sex with the ex" was a clear rollercoaster of emotions and Meryl Streep presented this excellently!

Ex-husband, Jake, played by Alec Baldwin married a much younger lady who he cheated with when he was married to Jane. He seems to become obsessed with Jane again after a crazy night in New York. He believes he fell in love all over again... with his EX-WIFE.

Finally, architect, Adam, played by Steve Martin is a very sweet character who you can't help but feel sorry for. Immediately, you can see he's attracted to Jane, from this you can guess where the story is heading. He's going through a "lengthy divorce" but manages to charm Jane.

In the end both Jake and Jane are forced to make a decision...

I think I may have gave too much away, but trust me, it's well worth watching. I'd watch it again!
